The first of 18 allies of former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021) accused of trying to overturn the results of Georgia’s 2020 presidential election went to court on Tuesday in the state.
Scott Hall, charged with conspiracy to illegally access voter information and counting machines, surrendered at Fulton County Jailas stated on the prison website.
The former president’s ally faces seven criminal charges, including one for violating the RICO law commonly used against mob bosses.
The court set bail at $10,000.according to prison records.
All defendants in the case of electoral fraud in Georgia must voluntarily surrender to the authorities by noon on Friday, prosecutor Fanny Willis has determined.
On Monday, Trump confirmed on social media that he would be showing up at Fulton on Thursday.. He will have to post a $200,000 bail to avoid jail time.
Last week, a Georgia grand jury indicted the former Republican president on 13 counts of attempting to rig the 2020 election results in a state narrowly won by incumbent Democrat Joe Biden.
This is Trump’s fourth criminal charge.. Two weeks ago in Washington, D.C., he was charged with four charges of allegedly trying to change the results of the 2020 U.S. election and encouraging the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Except, 34 counts indicted in New York for alleged irregular payments to pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, with whom he had an “affair” in the past, to buy his silence during the 2016 election campaign.
His other criminal case is in Florida, where he is charged with 40 counts of illegally seizing classified documents from the White House and storing classified documents in his Mar-a-Lago mansion.
