Alaska Airlines said passengers on one of its planes experienced moments of tension when Sparks took off shortly after landing in Southern California on Sunday evening due to landing gear problems.

He Alaska Airlines Flight 1288 he was unable to taxi to the boarding gate upon arrival at John Wayne Airport in Orange County when he landed at 11:15 p.m. PT.

The flight, which departed from Seattle, had 106 passengers and six crew members.

According to a call from the scene to the Orange County Fire Department, the aircraft had a main landing gear failure and was “leaning on the engine”.

The video, believed to have been taken by a passenger on Flight 1288, shows sparks and smoke billowing from the plane’s side after landing. Screams are heard from the cockpit after the plane made an emergency landing.

“Shit,” a passenger can be heard saying. “Sparks Outside”

The incident came as Tropical Storm Hilary hit southern California on Sunday with heavy rain, flooding roads and breaking rainfall records in parts of the region during its historic arrival.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency across much of Southern California, with flash flood warnings in place until Monday morning.

An emergency response was requested and all 112 people were disembarked from the aircraft at the airfield by stairs.

No injuries were reported, John Wayne Airport said in a statement, according to NBC News.

“They are all safe. The plane parked on the taxiway, where it stayed, and everyone got off the plane safely. Then they were taken by bus to the terminal,” Alaska Airlines said in a statement.

Alaska Airlines maintenance and safety teams inspect the aircraft.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience with this situation. The safety of our guests and employees is always our top priority. While this incident is rare, our flight crews have been extensively trained to handle many scenarios safely,” the airline said in a statement.
