Google and El Salvador launch digital plan for healthcare, education and government

Government of the President of El Salvador Naib Bukele has entered into a multi-year agreement with Google Cloudd, the first of its kind in Latin America, offering a variety of services.

strategic alliance is designed for seven years and will focus on the areas of digital government, health and education, but will require the approval of the Congress of this country.

“El Salvador is coming. We believe that technology and foreign investment are the key to development. We are rapidly becoming the center of innovation. This innovative alliance with Google Cloud opens up unprecedented opportunities for innovation, economic growth and improved public services,” Bukele said in a joint statement with Google.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian emphasized the alliance with this Central American country.

“Access to cloud computing has expanded dramatically across industries and regions around the world, enabling both small businesses and the public sector to use the same applications and services as more mature markets,” he said. “Cloud computing could really change Latin Americaand we look forward to exploring the full potential of these opportunities in El Salvador, benefiting its citizens and spurring economic development.”

El Salvador emphasized that in terms of health care, he decided to use Google Cloud artificial intelligence technologies to improve the health care of all population groups in the country.

With regard to education, there is a commitment to implement a unified education data platform that will receive attention from different levels, including educators, parents and public education leaders.
