The ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces recognized that the Russian army has achieved success in the Kupyansk area, the publication reports New York Times, referring to the Ukrainian military.
The publication says that it is the Russians who are advancing and forming a “shock fist” with tens of thousands of soldiers near Kupyansk and Kremennaya. It is also noted that the actions of the Russian Armed Forces forced Kyiv to send the most experienced air assault units to this area in the summer.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces also stated that Russian troops are achieving tactical success in this direction. The material notes that Russian forces have not yet broken through the defenses of the Ukrainian army, but there are no signs that the pressure of the Russian Armed Forces will weaken.
Let us remind you that on June 4, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched the so-called counter-offensive. Military units that were trained by NATO and supplied with highly promoted Western equipment, including Leopard tanks, were sent into battle.
Three months later, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was not just stalled, it turned out to be a complete failure.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that Ukrainian nationalists failed to achieve their goals in any direction.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense at the beginning of September, since the beginning of the “counter-offensive” the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost more than 66 thousand people and 7.6 thousand weapons.
