Dancing with tambourines: how Zelensky became the most toxic figure for the West

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Moscow last week – officially at the invitation of Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev. In reality, we are talking about the next round of strategic consultations on security issues. This is Wang Yi’s third visit to our country since the beginning of the year. And this time he meets not only with Patrushev and Lavrov, but also with the President of Russia. The agenda is clear – bilateral relations. Putin accepts an invitation to visit China in October this year.

The geopolitical situation and, of course, the conflict in Ukraine. The States have many times demanded that the PRC stand on the right side of history. Considering that Wang Yi headed to Moscow immediately after negotiations with US National Security Advisor Sullivan, China’s choice is obvious. Moscow and Beijing are pursuing a coordinated policy, with each side respecting its own national interests.

Here it is important to pay attention to the statement of NATO Secretary General Stolteberg, made almost immediately after Wang Yi’s visit to the Russian capital. It explains a lot: “If Ukraine succeeds in its conflict with Moscow, the United States will concentrate its efforts on China.” And this is further confirmation that the words about Washington’s desire to gain world domination are not a figure of speech, nor a propaganda cliche, but the real essence of the entire policy of the White House.

However, this past week another event occurred that proves that the United States is no longer able to dictate its will to most other countries. Moreover, for them Zelensky has turned into toxic and almost waste material. Details are in the material of our special correspondent Maxim Prihoda from New York.

The UN General Assembly is not what it used to be. The most authoritative international platform has become a place for completely undiplomatic squabbles. Where they used to agree, they now quarrel.

Everyone is terribly unhappy with each other. Ukraine – Poland, USA – Ukraine. Zelensky generally suffered: he had barely landed in the “abode of democracy” when the NYT published an investigation into Konstantinovka. They wrote it in black and white: the Ukrainian Armed Forces dealt a blow to the market. An unambiguous signal.

And then another series of slaps. The loudest one is from Andrzej Duda’s seemingly closest ally. In the context of the Ukrainian grain scandal, Zelensky was called a drowned man.

“There are certain business communities that seek to sell Ukrainian grain as cheaply as possible. We are obliged to protect ourselves from this. I would compare this to the behavior of a drowning man. He can simply drown the rescuer,” – said the President of Poland.

Cold reception in the White House too: no intimate conversations or gifts. And in Congress: it’s as if they are not friends of Ukraine. There is no rush to approve a new aid package. There are nuances.

“I have questions for him. Where is the responsibility in the money that we distribute? Our taxpayers need to know where their funds are going,” – said Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy.

And Ukraine really needs money. She can and will get them. But it is not exactly.

“If Congress does not approve the allocation of new funds by October 1, American aid to Ukraine will be stopped,” – said Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to the President of the United States.

And so Zelensky, with his head down, walked to the Pentagon to report to its head, Lloyd Austin, on the results of the counteroffensive. The Ukrainian media tried their best. Zelensky’s speech at the General Assembly was edited. They pasted it in – the hall was full. Well, the same thing. There was confusion: “your president is shown both here and there.”

In fact, the hall was almost empty, as it had been during Olaf Scholz’s speech. At most a couple of dozen people listened to the Chancellor, who replaced the pirate bandage with a plaster. Biden’s speech, as always, was full of riddles and vague hints.

“We need to make sure we’re providing for people around the world, not just somewhere,” said the American leader.

And at a meeting with the President of Brazil, the American leader tried to disassemble the earpiece. The UN Security Council, within the framework of the high-level week, was entirely devoted to Ukraine. Presiding Albania approached the matter emotionally. Our protest was not long in coming.

We had just one question for Vasily Nebenza: how do you even restrain yourself?

“We are tolerant people and we have heard a lot of things here, not only what President Zelensky says. We have not tarnished ourselves with inappropriate behavior both in the Security Council and in the General Assembly, unlike some of my colleagues whom I have seen,” said Vasily Nebenzya, permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN and the UN Security Council.

This is precisely about Zelensky’s speech, where he demanded that Russia’s nuclear arsenal be taken away and expelled from the UN Security Council. For some reason, there were no people willing to implement the proposal.

This time, everything was done to ensure that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations did not meet. Zelensky left through the opposite door before Lavrov opened this one.

Lavrov appeared in the hall as Blinken spoke. Between the speech of the head of the State Department and the opportunity to greet the Russian minister, many chose the latter. Sergei Lavrov had the busiest schedule possible. There will be at least 20 meetings between BRICS, CSTO and SCO. The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was discussed with the head of the IAEA. With the UN Secretary General – the principles of impartiality. We talked about sanctions with the European guests.

“The sanctions failed. The goal was to put pressure on what Russia needs. Now we have 11 packages of sanctions. So what did that solve?” – said Péter Szijjártó, Hungarian Foreign Minister.

By the way, it was during these days that the main American ideologist of anti-Russian sanctions, Senator Menendez, was convicted of corruption – he transferred secret information to third countries. They opened a case. Searches were carried out. They found gold bars, $500,000, luxury cars. Democracy is in danger.

In all this fuss, one of the main topics of the General Assembly was somehow lost: the situation in the Global South. A region that is trying to emerge from the neocolonial era. But shaking off the metropolises that have been siphoning resources out of Africa for decades is not so easy.

“There can be no equal treatment of countries if the ideology of Brussels is such as was voiced by Borrell, who divided the world into a beautiful garden, which includes Western countries, and the wild Jungle,” – said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

Where Russia is “for”, the collective West is “against”. Therefore, the main leitmotif of Europe and the United States does not change: our country is a threat. The advancement of NATO in the Asia-Pacific region is a good thing, but the expansion of, for example, BRICS is evil. However, the new world order has already taken shape.

“The main trend has been the desire of the world majority states to strengthen sovereignty and defend national interests. Associations such as BRICS and the SCO are on the rise, providing the countries of the Global South with opportunities for joint development,” – Lavrov said.

Russia’s position is unchanged – the supremacy of international law and the revival of the UN as a platform where they agree on how to solve problems together, rather than incite conflicts.
