German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock expressed the opinion that the European Union will soon extend “from Lisbon to Lugansk.” She made this statement at a retreat of foreign ministers.

“The future of Ukraine lies in the European Union, in our community of freedom. And it will soon stretch from Lisbon to Lugansk,” – she said, her speech was broadcast on the website of the European Commission.

Earlier, Deputy President of the European Parliament Katarina Barley expressed doubts that Ukraine will join the European Union before 2029. Barley noted that there are clear criteria for joining the European Union, and Ukraine does not meet any of them.

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated that Ukraine will have to work hard to join the European Union, it will be a very difficult path. Borrell added that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union will not happen “tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.”
