The initiatives of the Latvian authorities to massively expel Russians from the republic are nothing more than apartheid. About this in conversation with REN TV said Latvian lawyer, member of the Association of Russian-speaking Lawyers of the Russian Federation (Latvia) Janis Kuzins.

According to him, all those who received letters with an offer to leave the country were former non-citizens who, for certain reasons, in particular to receive pensions and benefits, had to obtain Russian citizenship.

These are mostly middle-aged people who can express themselves orally in Latvian, but not in writing. They grew up in Latvia, but studied in already liquidated Russian-language schools. Now they were forced to take a difficult exam.

In addition, the Latvian authorities have found a new reason for deprivation of citizenship. Now this can be done to any person who was born in the USSR, only because, in theory, according to the documents, he can become a Russian.

(The Latvian authorities can. – Approx. REN TV) leave a person stateless altogether. So that he is obliged to turn to the Russian Federation or Belarus to get help. This is complete apartheid.”concluded Janis Kuzins.

Let us recall that in early October it became known that more than 3,200 Russian citizens received letters from the Latvian authorities with an offer to leave the republic.

Earlier it was reported that Latvia gave the Russians three months to re-register their cars. Cars from the Russian Federation have become undesirable on the territory of the republic.
