Five days after the start of the war with Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the head of the opposition State Camp party Benny Gantz made the final decision to create an emergency government, reports Ynet portal.
According to the portal, Netanyahu and Gantz met early on the morning of October 11 and agreed to create a “military control cabinet.” It is assumed that this cabinet will include only three people: Netanyahu and Gantz themselves, as well as Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
Observers will be State Camp member and former Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Gadi Eizenkot and Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.
It is also reported that Knesset members Gideon Saar, Hili Trouper and Yifat Shasha-Biton will join the “political security cabinet” and become ministers without portfolio.
On October 11, it was reported that the Israel Defense Forces would check information about penetration into the country’s airspace from Lebanese territory.
The mayor of Israeli Ashkelon, Tomer Glam, reported that residents of the city, which is under daily shelling, are experiencing a shortage of essential things, but continue to support their army.
He cited updated data that over four days, 886 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Ashkelon, of which 260 hit houses.
