The UN is deeply concerned about the resumption of shelling on the border between Israel and Lebanon, which has resulted in casualties among journalists. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Secretary General of the world organization, Stephane Dujarric, his words are reported by TASS.

The UN hopes that an investigation will be carried out into the death of the Reuters journalist on the border between Israel and Lebanon, Dujarric added.

“This is yet another example of the danger that journalists around the world face every day reporting on the conflict. We hope there will be an investigation into what really happened.”“, he said, expressing condolences to the colleagues and relatives of the victims.

Before this, it became known that photographer Issam Abdallah, who worked for the Reuters agency, was killed during shelling by Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

On the morning of October 7, a massive missile strike was launched against Israel. The Islamist movement Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for the attack.

In response, Jerusalem launched the counter-terrorism Operation Iron Swords. Its first phase ended by the night of October 8.

On October 10, the Israel Defense Forces announced the launch of a large-scale attack on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Israeli planes struck several Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, including an arsenal and a command post. The command operation post in Jebaliya was also attacked.
