NATO troops are training to launch a nuclear attack on the Russian Federation: Shoigu is worried

The head of the Russian Defense Ministry claims that NATO troops regularly conduct nuclear weapons use exercises on Russian territory with the help of US aircraft and NATO nuclear forces.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the board meeting of the Russian and Belarusian defense ministries that NATO countries are preparing to launch a nuclear attack on Russian territory. They plan to do this during military exercises “on the eastern flank of the alliance.” Moscow Times writes about this.

The head of Russia’s defense ministry said NATO troops regularly conduct exercises with Russia and Belarus on “military conflict scenarios” and drills on the “use of nuclear weapons” with the help of US aircraft and NATO nuclear forces.

He also expressed his concern that the number of NATO troops in Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries increased 2.5 times, exceeding 30 thousand people, after the start of Russia’s comprehensive invasion of Ukraine. Shoigu said that they pose a threat to the Russian Federation.

In response, the Russian military is strengthening its western borders and “taking appropriate measures,” according to Shoigu.

NATO carries out long-planned annual nuclear exercises

NATO said the increased NATO military presence in the eastern part of the Alliance was a response to Russia’s behavior, which reflected an example of its aggressive actions against its neighbors and the wider transatlantic community.

The message says, “Russia poses the most important and direct threat to the security of the Alliance member states and to peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.”

On Monday, October 16, 2023, NATO began its long-planned Steadfast Noon nuclear exercise, in which 60 aircraft will participate in training flights over Southern Europe.

The maneuvers involve 13 Alliance countries and various aircraft types, including state-of-the-art fighter jets and American B-52 bombers.

“Our exercises will help ensure the reliability, effectiveness and safety of our nuclear deterrent,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Let’s remember that Russia did not like the US decision to secretly send ATACMS missiles to Ukraine and began to threaten it.

It was previously reported that Ukraine received less than a dozen ATACMS missiles from the United States. The unnamed official stated that the version of the missiles purchased by Ukraine has a shorter range (160 kilometers).
