Expanding the operations of its ground forces in Gaza, Israel comes across impressive resistance from Hamas, whose forces are now waging a real guerrilla war with the IDF: blowing up tanks, setting up ambushes and even trying to attack border cities.

A special correspondent witnessed one of these forays, during which a shooting battle broke out. “Izvestia” Stanislav Grigoriev. Details are in the story REN TV.

Fierce struggle – for every house

Israel is launching new powerful strikes on Hamas targets, but rockets are also flying in response. An alarm sounds on the border with Gaza, and journalists from three dozen countries run for cover.

“There was a long line, a lot of smoke, shooting, and all this in one local point – a suburb of Gaza called Beit Hanoun”– the correspondent reports.

There is a fierce struggle for every house, for every street. The Israeli military entered Gaza, the administrative center of the enclave. This was officially announced by the IDF.

“Our fighters are already in Gaza City, surrounding it from several directions. And I see how we are making progress. We have to fight in a very difficult situation – in a densely populated, built-up area.”said Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Herzi Halevi.

Anyone becomes a target

The most modern ground equipment and aviation are used. Israeli engineering troops have launched a large-scale operation to destroy Hamas tunnels. The IDF announced that it would not even try to penetrate them. Fifth generation fighters have been launched into the air.

The offensive comes, firstly, from the coastline and the city of Sderot through the suburbs of Beit Hanoun and Jebaliya. And secondly, from the south – here the Israelis managed to cut the enclave in two, and this corridor is now only expanding. Stanislav Grigoriev managed to visit the southern point of the Israeli army’s offensive.

“The first thing the military told us in this place: “If you see Gaza, then Gaza, most likely, sees you.” It is strictly forbidden to approach the fence, because in that place any person automatically becomes a target.”– said the journalist.

There are snipers and an anti-tank missile launcher working on the other side.

“This area is still very dangerous. Any vehicle it is a target for anti-tank missiles. Unfortunately, yesterday an Israeli soldier was killed right near here.”noted IDF spokesman David Baruch.

Hamas rockets reach Israel

Hamas fights with all available means. A video has appeared on the Internet in which a militant jumps out of cover and places a landmine on the armor of an Israeli tank, and then detonates it.

However, the effectiveness of such methods is relatively low. Ambulances and volunteers are constantly on duty in villages along the demarcation line with the sector. Local residents were resettled more than 100 kilometers away.

But Hamas and Hezbollah rockets are increasingly reaching major Israeli cities. On November 2, Kiryat Shmona in the north and one of the suburbs of Tel Aviv in the south came under attack.
