Animal activists joked that the one-horned deer was a mythical creature. They are also “waiting” for other representatives of the fairy tale world.
The “unicorn” caught on camera in the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona (USA) turned out to be a one-year-old deer that prematurely lost one of its antlers. UPI writes about this.
Yearling male moose usually grow their first set of antlers in “individual tufts,” the park said in a Facebook post.

It seems that the animal, recorded on security cameras at night, lost one of its horns.
“Antler shedding usually occurs in late winter or early spring, but early shedding may be due to sparring, malnutrition, or disease/injury affecting testosterone levels,” the report said.
Park officials joked that the moose caught walking under a full moon at night was a mythical creature.
“Unicorns appear in the park during the full moon. The next full moon is November 27 and we will definitely see Pegasi! Pegasi?! Whatever the plural of flying horses is,” officials wrote.
