John and his wife, Finn, say this is their main source of income today. They once sold all their property to realize their dreams, but they do not regret this decision.

61-year-old American John Kernohan and his wife sold all their property and moved to a remote village, where they rented small “shacks” on Airbnb. Daily Express writes that spouses earn from this from 3 to 5 thousand dollars (107-180 thousand UAH) per month.

John and his wife Finn, 44, reportedly met online in 2010, fell in love and got married two years later. This is surprising because the couple maintained a relationship at a distance of more than 6.4 thousand km. He lived in Miami and lived in London.

Finn was born in Thailand. He had once lived either in a narrowboat or in a loft, so he was very uncomfortable with Kernohan’s spacious three-bedroom house.

The woman persuaded her lover to sell his house in Georgia and buy a rural cottage of 304 square meters (about 92 m2) for only $ 6,500 (about 234 thousand UAH). They spent another $6,000 (216 thousand UAH) to equip an outdoor kitchen and a bathroom used as a greenhouse.

The American home is “powered” by solar and thermal energy; specifically, the couple uses gas produced from non-composted waste for cooking.

“When it all started, I thought we’d made a mistake because we were constantly running out of space. But now, 12 years later, it’s hard for me to imagine my life being any different,” John admits.

The family has already expanded their property to 16 acres (6.4 hectares) and spent $83 thousand (almost UAH 3 million) on the construction of additional buildings (small barns and yurts), which they rented on Airbnb and earned between $3,000 and $5,000. monthly.

The people of Kernohan claim that this is their main source of income today.
