The team of workers at first doubted that they would be able to prepare the already decorated festive “beauty” in time for the solemn ceremony of lighting the lights.
High winds toppled the main 40-foot (more than 12-meter) New Year tree in front of the White House in the United States. The tree, brought from the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia for the holiday, will be personally lit by President Joe Biden on Thursday, November 30. NBC News reported this.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred on Tuesday, November 28, around 17:00 local time. Work crews tried to save the tree and lift it upright with the help of a crane, but the cable had to be replaced. Therefore, they doubted whether it would be possible to prepare the already decorated “beauty” in time for the solemn ceremony of lighting the lights.
“After assessing the condition of the tree and replacing the broken cable, the tree is now upright,” park service spokeswoman Jasmine Shanti said proudly.
The White House declined to comment and referred reporters with questions to park services.
“Now I understand that you cannot approach the tree on holidays”, “This is a sign. There is a storm above us”, “This is a bad omen”, “Maybe the tree is just tired” Americans write comments under the corresponding video on YouTube.
By the way, this is not the first incident in which the main Christmas tree has fallen in the USA. A similar incident occurred in 2011.
Last year, US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted the 100th lighting of the National Christmas Tree. This tradition was established in 1923 by President Calvin Coolidge.
Let’s remember this before Focus He wrote about the angry residents of the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, who forced local authorities to get rid of the “embarrassing” Christmas tree installed near the train station. People on social networks collectively complained that the New Year tree was too ugly and spoiled the atmosphere of the upcoming holiday.
Additionally, scientists tried to find out why Christmas trees are pyramid-shaped. Scientists claim that there is a very logical explanation for this.
