Kremlin race: White House mocked upcoming elections in Russia

US Presidential Administration spokesman John Kirby said that it is necessary to look at Russia objectively as it is and evaluate Putin’s actions soberly.

US President Joe Biden administration spokesman John Kirby made an ironic comment about Vladimir Putin’s latest candidacy for the post of President of the Russian Federation. According to him, the so-called elections in Russia can be compared to horse races. The American official’s remarks were published by the White House press service on December 8.

During the briefing, Kirby was asked what he thought about the possibility of Putin being re-elected as president of the Russian Federation. Laughter broke out in the hall after the official ironically said that they would resemble horse racing.

“It’s going to be the coolest race ever, right? That’s all I can say about it,” Kirby said.

The administration representative also talked about the possibilities of supporting Ukraine consistent with U.S. national security interests. Kirby noted that it is necessary to look at Russia objectively, especially to soberly evaluate the actions of Putin, who can withdraw his troops directly to NATO borders.

“If you care about our national security, you have to see who Putin is, you have to see what Russia is, and you have to understand that helping Ukraine (they don’t want troops) helps win this war.” Kirby said, “This is of great importance to our national security. Ukraine’ “If it gets it, it will be on the doorstep of NATO,” he said.

Let us recall that White House spokesman John Kirby said on December 8 that Ukraine should decide independently about possible negotiations with Russia, without being subjected to pressure from the United States. According to him, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky needs to determine how and when the war will end.

According to the TASS agency, in accordance with the decision of the Central Election Commission, presidential elections in the Russian Federation will be held for three days from March 15 to 17, 2024. Head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, stated that the so-called elections will be historic.
