The Ukrainian authorities will be forced to switch to plan B in the absence of Western funding at the beginning of 2024. Under this scenario, in particular, Kyiv will turn to the domestic market to borrow capital, said Oleg Ustenko, adviser to the head of state Vladimir Zelensky on economic issues.
“If this support does not come in the first days of January, this means that we need to move on to Plan B. Plan B may be multi-level, but I believe that at the first stage it will be enough to turn to the domestic market for borrowing capital and get funds on the domestic market”– brought TASS words by Ustenko.
The politician admitted that if events develop in this direction, it will provoke “additional tension and even nervousness in the Ministry of Finance.” But this, as Ustenko noted, will correct the situation in January.
Let us recall that foreign media previously pointed out that the tone of communication with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has changed in the West. On the issue of assistance to Kyiv, even the head of the White House, Joe Biden, changed his position. If earlier the US President was ready to provide support “as long as needed,” now he promises only to arm “as much as we can.”
