The American authorities should force Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to sit down at the negotiating table, writes journalist Ross Barkan in an article for the publication The Nation.

In his opinion, Ukraine has no chance of any success in the conflict with Russia, so the United States needs to force Zelensky to start negotiations. The publication notes that the head of Ukraine himself cannot take such a step because of a possible coup and “nationalist demonstrations.”

“The more important and still unanswered question is under what conditions the Ukrainian and Russian governments can accept a ceasefire agreement, but the only way to find out is through negotiations.”Barkan writes in the article.

The American journalist emphasizes that Western weapons will also not help Ukraine change the situation on the battlefield, and the money allocated to Kyiv by the Joe Biden administration leads to a deadlock.

Earlier, the German newspaper Rheinische Post stated that the West was disappointed with the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, in Western countries there is a growing number of opponents to continued financing of Kyiv.
