South Korea reported new artillery exercises by the DPRK military

On January 7, the DPRK army again staged artillery exercises using live shells off the coast of the Yellow Sea. About it reported South Korean agency Yonhap.

It is noted that explosions were heard north of Yeonphendo, which belongs to the Republic of Korea, located near the maritime border between the states. At the same time, not a single DPRK projectile crossed the dividing line.

South Korean soldiers stationed on the island are preparing “retaliatory measures.” The civilian population of Yeonphendo was asked to be careful when out and about.

Let us remind you that the DPRK’s shooting continues for the third day. About 200 shells were fired into the first, and about 60 into the second. According to Pyongyang representatives, these actions were a response to the Republic of Korea conducting exercises in the Yellow Sea.

On January 1, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that Pyongyang is ready to destroy Washington and Seoul if the United States and South Korea choose the path of confrontation with the DPRK.

The head of the South Korean Ministry of Defense, Shin Won-sik, responded by saying that the South Korean Armed Forces must make the DPRK understand that Pyongyang’s provocations will only lead to the destruction of the country.
