The United States, according to initial estimates, has achieved “good effect” from strikes against Yemeni Houthi targets, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said on January 12.

“According to our preliminary assessment, we have achieved a good effect,” – he said on the TV channel CNN.

He added that the US military has not yet seen any response from the Houthis. If necessary, Washington is ready to continue military operations. But for now there are no plans to send additional forces to the Red Sea area.

Let us recall that earlier, expert of the Russian International Affairs Council Kirill Semenov said in a conversation with REN TVthat the United States will not provoke a full-scale conflict in Yemen.

On the night of January 12, the United States and Great Britain launched strikes on targets in four provinces in Yemen.

The Houthis announced retaliatory attacks on British and American military bases.

American President Joe Biden called the airstrikes on Yemen a response to the threat to freedom of navigation and promised to “act without hesitation” in the future. He also claimed that as a result of 27 Houthi attacks, commercial ships from more than 50 countries were damaged.
