European officials and businessmen in Davos, where a meeting of the World Economic Forum is currently taking place, insist on a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, the newspaper reported The New York Times.

It is noted that the topic of the situation in Ukraine is noticeable at the meetings, but is not dominant. Officials and businessmen from European countries declare their support for Kyiv, but at the same time they promote the idea of a diplomatic settlement.

“They are also publicly and privately pushing for a diplomatic solution to the conflict,” emphasized in the publication.

Russia has repeatedly stated its readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. However, as presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov pointed out, the Ukrainian authorities “absolutely deny” the negotiations. The Kremlin representative drew attention to the fact that Kyiv does not show “political will” and does not enter into dialogue with Moscow.
