Russia’s possible decision to ban Britain from fishing in the Barents Sea could deprive the British of their national dish, fish and chips, reports Daily Mail.

The publication writes that British companies catch huge quantities of haddock and cod in Russian territorial waters – this is the fish that is used to make fish and chips. In 2023 alone, the British caught more than 566 thousand tons of cod in the Barents Sea.

As indicated in the material, a possible decision by the Russian side on fishing will be a response to London’s sanctions.

The British also fear that their fishing vessels will be driven out of the Barents Sea by the Russian navy.

Let us recall that earlier it became known that Russia is going to ban the United Kingdom fleet from access to its waters. This agreement was signed more than half a century ago and did not imply benefits for the Soviet Union, so there will be no economic consequences for our country.
