Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi launched the construction of the fourth power unit of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt. This nuclear power plant was the first in the country.

Putin and al-Sisi started pouring concrete via video conference. This action marks the start of construction of an entire new power unit. Subsequently, a nuclear reactor will be located there.

At the same time, all four nuclear power plant units will be built simultaneously, noted RIA News.

El-Sisi expressed deep gratitude to the Russian leader for the implementation of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant project.

Let us recall that the project for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt was approved in 2015. The station will consist of four power units with a capacity of 1200 MW each. In May 2023, Rosatom began construction of the third power unit.

The contract assumes that the Russian Federation will supply nuclear fuel to this station throughout its entire life cycle. Also, for the first 10 years, our country will provide assistance to Egypt in training personnel and operating nuclear power plants.
