On February 3, Ukrainian nationalists carried out a barbaric attack on a bakery filled with civilians from Lysichansk. The head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, emphasized that Ukrainian militants fired at the establishment, knowing that civilians were coming there that day. On the evening of February 4, search and rescue work was completed at the site of the collapse of the bakery building after shelling by Ukrainian Armed Forces militants. Emergency Situations Ministry employees rescued 10 people from the rubble. The agency also confirmed the deaths of 28 people, including one child.
Military investigators from Russia’s Investigative Committee said the bakery was allegedly fired from a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. One of the victims said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at them while unloading food.
February 4 was declared a day of mourning in the LPR for those killed as a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on a bakery. Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Anna Kuznetsova called this shelling an act of helplessness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an attempt to attract the attention of the West.
