The EU may consider imposing sanctions against American journalist Tucker Carlson for his interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The publication reported this Newsweek.

“Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin could make a conservative pundit a target in the eyes of European Union lawmakers.”, says the article. In the material, the authors refer to the words of current and former members of the European Parliament (EP).

Carlson’s steps could lead him to conflict with Brussels, said former Belgian Prime Minister and current MP Guy Verhofstadt. He called for a “travel ban” against the American journalist, calling him a “mouthpiece” for former White House head Donald Trump.

At the same time, the material notes that “any hypothetical sanctions against Carlson may still be a long way off,” even if this step receives the necessary support among legislators and heads of state in Europe.

Let us remind you that the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov confirmed the information that Carlson recorded an interview with Putin. The impressions from this conversation, as Peskov added, can be judged after its publication.

Before this, the journalist announced an interview with the President of Russia. As American presenter Alex Jones reported on social network X, Carlson spoke with Putin for two hours. According to him, the journalist promised not to delay the release of the interview.

Let us remind you that on February 3, the famous American journalist Tucker Carlson was spotted in Moscow. He was seen at the Bolshoi Theater in the ballet “Spartacus”. The purpose of Carlson’s visit to Russia was not stated. The journalist himself did not write anything about this on social networks.

Rumors spread in the media that Carlson came to Russia to interview Vladimir Putin. REN TV published a video in which Carlson commented on this information, saying: “We’ll see.” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 5 that he currently had nothing to report about Putin’s possible interview with Carlson.

Answering a question about the reasons for his visit to Russia, Carlson admitted that he had heard a lot about our country and wanted to see it in person, communicate with people and “see how everything works.”

The former Fox News host called the American media “really crazy” for reacting violently to the news of his trip to Moscow.
