Peskov: the goal of the interview with Putin has been achieved

The main goal of journalist Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin was for the Russian leader to be heard and seen in the West, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. He noted that this goal was successfully achieved.

“The main task is for Putin to be heard and seen – it seems to me that it has been successfully achieved,” — Peskov said in an interview, a fragment of which was published in Telegram channel journalist Pavel Zarubin.

The viewing figures for this interview that are already observed now significantly exceed the “ratings of the world’s top-rated broadcasters,” Peskov pointed out.

The Kremlin official also noted that Americans know very little about what is happening outside the United States, so it was very important to convey Putin’s ideology to them through the interview.

Peskov also noted that the Russian president, in a conversation with an American journalist, relied on a very deep knowledge of history. Putin often works with archival documents, and therefore his historical worldview is based on specific knowledge.

The purpose of Carlson’s visit to Russia was not stated. The journalist himself did not write anything about this on social networks.

REN TV published a video in which Carlson commented on this information, saying: “We’ll see.” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 5 that he currently had nothing to report about a possible interview with Putin.

Answering a question about the reasons for his visit to Russia, Carlson admitted that he had heard a lot about our country and wanted to see it in person, communicate with people and “see how everything works.”

The former Fox News host called the American media “really crazy” for reacting violently to the news of his trip to Moscow.

Later, the Russian leader’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed the information that Carlson recorded an interview with Putin. The impressions from this conversation, as Peskov added, can be judged after its publication.

Before this, the journalist announced an interview with the President of Russia. As American presenter Alex Jones reported on social network X, Carlson spoke with Putin for two hours. According to him, the journalist promised not to delay the release of the interview.

The interview was published on Carlson’s website on the night of February 9. In the first 15 minutes from the moment of publication, over 2.5 million people watched it.
