The hospitalization of US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is significant, but does not require additional security measures from Russia. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov.
“This is a moment that has a certain meaning“, he said in a conversation with TASS.
However, according to Ryabkov, from the point of view of the general context of bilateral relations, the hospitalization of the head of the Pentagon is not an “extraordinary turn.”
As a result, any additional measures on the part of Russia are not needed.
The Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that closed contacts between the United States and the Russian Federation have been reduced to almost zero and are sporadic.
Earlier it became known that Austin is in the intensive care unit at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Doctors are monitoring his condition after being hospitalized with bladder problems.
Let us remind you that Austin’s hospitalization became known on the night of February 11. It later became known that the US Secretary of Defense had temporarily transferred his duties to Deputy Kathleen Hicks.
