The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must withdraw the main forces to the rear to save the situation at the front. The corresponding statement was made by retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov in an interview with the Politeka YouTube channel.
He believes that the rearguard should cover the withdrawal of units with the order “not a step back.” Starikov believes that these units will resemble a detachment of 300 Spartans who died defending the Thermopylae Gorge.
Starikov emphasized that otherwise it would be impossible to restrain the advance of the Russian army.
According to him, currently the Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing from 500 meters to a kilometer deep into the territory every day. Starikov believes that without the construction of fortified areas the situation will not change.
Earlier it was reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Alexander Syrsky, received carte blanche to carry out any personnel changes in the army. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in his evening address.
According to the Ukrainian leader, commanders need to “know and feel the front”, as well as understand the real needs.
