Berlin police released two suspects detained during an anti-terrorist special operation on the morning of March 3. According to publications Bild am Sonntag, law enforcement authorities were unable to detect their involvement in the terrorist group “Red Army Faction” (RAF, Rote Armee Fraktion).

A special operation to capture ex-RAF members Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin became known on the morning of March 3. Shooting was heard in the area of the operation. It was reported that two people were taken into custody.

However, neither Garweg nor Staub were among those arrested, so the police sent the detainees home.

Prior to this, this week in the German capital, Red Army Faction terrorist Daniela Klette was arrested, who allegedly participated in the 1993 bombing of a prison in the city of Weiterstadt, as well as in the attack on the American embassy in Bonn in 1991. It is known that law enforcement officers are currently looking for two of her accomplices – Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub.
