Lucid Air Sapphire 2023: up to 1200 HP

Lucid is one of the automotive brands committed to luxury and electrification. Some models have managed to penetrate this sector (for example, Air). Now the brand is betting on the next level of power and electricity through Sapphire 2023.

“The pinnacle of electrical performance” is how the company describes its new Sapphire model, which is listed as the world’s first all-electric luxury supercar sedan.

“Today, with the introduction of the Sapphire range, we are taking the next logical step forward. Lucid Air Sapphire, as the first Lucid product to bear the Sapphire name, builds on our technical prowess to take high electrical performance to the next level,” said Peter Rawlinson, Lucid Group CEO and CTO.

The mechanical part has a huge power, as it is able to reach 1200 horsepower thanks to three ultra-modern engines produced by the company itself.

The powertrains are equipped with a proprietary microfluidic stator and wave winding cooling system, while the rear-wheel drive twin units are equipped with new technology: a heat exchanger and increased coolant flow.

All this allows the Lucid Air Sapphire 2023 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2 seconds and 100 mph in less than 4 seconds. No doubt the absolute horsepower that the company wanted to keep under wraps, because while it claims it will top 1,200bhp, it doesn’t reveal the exact figure.

Aerodynamically, it looks simple, but it is not. The oval or curved design flaunts from the hood to the back. The front grille has an aggressive structure with airflow deflectors located below.

Also, the flow of wind follows the car’s silhouette to achieve the desired lift effect, and is also necessary due to the speed and power the Lucid Air Sapphire 2023 can achieve.

Production of the car will begin in the first half of next year, though Lucid announces that it will be limited to expected US and Canadian deliveries, priced at $249,000 (CAD$325,000).
