Facebook bots used: Russian GRU organizes Stars of David appearance in France – Le Monde

GRU employees of the Russian Federation organized the work of a pro-Russian network of bots and people to organize mass painting of Stars of David in houses in Paris. This is evidenced by the massive posting of relevant images on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). The special operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the pro-Russian news network were discovered by researchers from the Le Monde publication.

Le Monde journalists, with the help of two experts and based on official data, revealed that a network of news portals run by Russian intelligence services was involved in anti-Israeli events in Paris.

The publication recalls that, according to preliminary results of researchers, the Stars of David were painted by four Moldovan citizens paid by Moldovan businessman Anatoly Princo. Participants managed to apply 250 template images. At the same time, photos with these images were actively distributed by a pro-Russian network called Doppelgänger (translated as “doubles”). The media stated that the Doppelgänger network was directly controlled by the Russian GRU.

Another name for Doppelgänger is Reliable Current News (RRN, translated as “reliable current news”), researchers said. A number of social media accounts shared the same images of the Stars of David posted on RRN sources. The media noted that in many photographs a blue star was visible on the walls of the 10th arrondissement of Paris.

RRN works in two directions: bots and fake “news sites” that mass publish certain messages on social networks, according to Le Monde. It has been known since June 13, 2023 that this network is closely linked to Russian intelligence services. In particular, Quai d’Orsay researchers reported that the network was indeed controlled by the GRU. One of their jobs is to create websites that publish fake “news” from official sources.

French police confirmed that a “third party from abroad” was behind the painting in Paris. But so far we are talking only about the money of the Moldovan entrepreneur, but there is no mention of the involvement of Russian special services, writes Le Monde.

It should be noted that the appearance of the Stars of David on Paris buildings became known in early November – the corresponding photos were published by the world media. Those who painted them were later detained and the man who ordered and paid for the work was accounted for.

At the same time, a riot broke out in Dagestan in Russia: local residents began to search for Jews and closed the airport in Makhachkala. About one and a half thousand Dagestanis took part in the riots, and the police did not make a single attempt to stop them for several hours. Military observer Mark Feigin believes that the Russian FSB is behind the events.

Meanwhile, anti-Israeli riots began after the Israel Defense Forces launched a war against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip. War was declared after the events of October 7, in which terrorists killed 1.5 thousand Israelis. The IDF launched a series of rocket attacks on Hamas headquarters, and then armored vehicles entered the Palestinian enclave in Gaza.
