Berlin will deliver double-decker buses MAN Lion’s City DD to Kiev. It is designed for 128 passengers and is equipped with a powerful Euro-4 turbodiesel.
Double-decker city buses may soon appear on the streets of Kyiv. They will come to Ukraine from Germany and make a gift to the capital. This was reported by the German site Rbb24.
The four used double-decker buses will be delivered to Kiev by the Berlin public service transport company BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe). They have been operating in the German capital for 12 years and underwent scheduled repairs and maintenance before being shipped to Ukraine on Monday.
BVG did not specify which buses they were talking about. However, only one double-decker model has been operated in Berlin in recent years – the MAN A39 Lion’s City DD. This is confirmed by the photo of the buses.
The MAN Lion’s City DD was produced in 2005-2015. The large-capacity three-axle city bus reaches 13.73 m in length and is designed for 128 passengers (83 of which are seated). The cabin has a flat floor and is accessed via steps from the front and rear to the second floor.
The MAN double-decker bus is equipped with a 10.5-liter 310-horsepower Euro-4 turbodiesel and automatic transmission. It received ABS, traction control and air suspension.
This is not the first gift from Germany to Kiev. Earlier, 18 MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses were delivered to the capital of Ukraine – they are already operating on routes 2, 22 and 56.
