The ZIM-350 ATV was created not for fun, but for economy. It was suggested to be used as a mini tractor and came with a plow, harrow and cultivator.
Few people know that ATVs are produced in Ukraine. In the early 90s, the Kharkov Plant named after VO Malyshev, where the T-64 and T-84 tanks were produced, began production of the ZIM-350 model. The site “Tractor for You” writes about this.
The Zim-350 was introduced in 1991 and was created for economy, not entertainment. The ATV had two large bodies and a towbar that allowed towing a trailer weighing up to 300 kg. It was also equipped with a spare wheel in front.
350 cc two-stroke engine cm and 20 liter capacity. with. Taken from the motorcycle “Izh-Jupiter-5M”. The maximum speed of the ATV was 70 km/h. Interestingly, there was no electric starter, and it started only with a starter – from the “pusher”.
But the ZIM-350 had a complex all-wheel drive transmission with 4 normal and 4 low gears. In addition, a locked differential was installed. The fact is that the ZIM-350 was proposed to be used as a mini tractor and could move slowly in low gear at a speed of 2 to 12 km / h. And the ATV showed outstanding off-road capability and easily overcame crossings up to 60 cm deep.
It also came with a plow, a rake, and a cultivator, and for an additional fee they provided a mower, a seeder, a sprayer, a potato scoop, and a fertilizer spreader.
However, only a few hundred ZIM-350s were produced and production was halted several times. The model was relatively inexpensive and reliable, but it was released in the harsh 90s and people did not have the opportunity to buy it.
Previously Focus He said that in the early 30s in Kharkov they created and put into production the first Ukrainian motorcycle. Harley-Davidson served as a role model.
We also wrote that 90 years ago in Kharkov they began assembling Ford cars. These were the first passenger cars of Ukrainian production.
