Race of generations: charged Honda Civic hatchbacks raced in a straight line (video)

The Honda Civic Type R model has been actively developed and improved over the years. Now it’s time to find out which generations of the charging hatchback are faster.

Bloggers compared five generations of the cordless Honda Civic Type R hatchback in drag races and found which car was faster. The video was posted on the Carwow YouTube channel.

The Honda Civic Type R has been produced since 1997. Since then, the model has remained a fast front-wheel drive hatchback with a powerful four-cylinder engine.

For this race, we’ve selected the latest five generations of a plug-in hatchback. All of them differ not only externally, but also internally.

2001 Honda Civic Type R EP3 It is equipped with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine with 197 hp. and 196 Nm of torque. Its weight is 1210 kg.

under the hood 2007 Honda Civic Type R FN2 A 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 198 hp is installed. and 193 Nm of torque. The weight of the model is 1267 kg.

2015 Honda Civic Type R FK2 It is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 306 horsepower. and 400 Nm of torque. The weight of the car is 1382 kg.

In motion 2017 Honda Civic Type R FK8 It uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 317 hp. and 400 Nm of torque. The hatchback weighs 1405 kg.

New Honda Civic Type R FL5 It is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 325 horsepower. and 420 Nm of torque. Its weight is 1429 kg.

In the standing race, the Honda Civic Type R FK2 confidently took the lead. The latest generation of the model made it to the finish line in second place and the FK8 in third place.

2001 Honda Civic Type R EP3 finished fourth in the race. The slowest was the 2007 FN2.

In the running race, the Honda Civic Type R FL5 still managed to win the championship. FK8 2017 placed second and FK2 2015 won bronze.

In fourth place was the 2001 Honda Civic Type R EP3 again. FN2 2007 was the last to reach the finish line.
