The number of car thefts decreased in Ukraine (stats)

By 2023, the rate of car theft in Ukraine has fallen to the level of a full Russian occupation. At the same time, it was recorded that such crimes peaked in 2022.

The number of car thefts in Ukraine in 2023 has decreased sharply. This figure fell even below the pre-war level. This was reported on the Opendatabot website.

In 2022, a peak in car thefts was recorded in Ukraine. Then the number of such crimes doubled compared to 2021.

In 2022, a total of 4,194 criminal cases were filed for car theft. Only one in five cases made it to court.

During the summer, average car theft rates fell to 350 criminal cases per month. In the autumn, about 240 criminal cases were opened quarterly. Already in December, the smallest number of car thefts in a year was recorded – 100.

At the beginning of 2023, the number of car thefts was even less than before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. In the first two months of this year, 310 cases of vehicle theft were recorded. This is 20% less than January-February 2022.
