Chinese Lada: AvtoVAZ will produce crossovers at the former Nissan factory

The Russian company “AvtoVAZ” launched the production of the first car in St. He will install it at the old Nissan factory in St. Petersburg. This is reported on the TASS website.

The new Lada model will be held in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. According to rumors, the Chinese crossover will be a copy of the FAW Bestune T77 – that is, AvtoVAZ will follow in the footsteps of Moskvich.

AvtoVAZ began accelerated preparations to start production of a new car. Serial assembly of cars is scheduled to begin in May-June 2023.

Rumors that the FAW Bestune T77 crossover will be used as the new Lada model reinforce the test cars that were spotted at the AvtoVAZ Engineering Center in the Samara region. A 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 160 horsepower was installed on the prototype.

AvtoVAZ said that the former Nissan factory will produce car models in the C and D segments. By 2030, cars on a new platform will appear in the lineup of the concern, which can also be borrowed from their Chinese counterparts.
