From the track to the terrain: Formula 1 pilots get behind the wheel of monster trucks (video)

Formula 1 drivers Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri competed in an unusual environment. Racers got behind the wheel of huge monster trucks. The video was posted on the Red Bull YouTube channel.

Max Verstappen is back in contention for the Formula 1 World Championship in 2023. Still, the 25-year-old pilot found time to participate in an extraordinary competition.

The race took place near the Erzberg mine in Austria. Racers were given monster trucks in the style of the teams they drove in Formula 1.

These cars are about three meters high and can go almost anywhere. It is equipped with a mid-mounted 500 horsepower V8 engine.

First, the pilots made one-time trials. Yuki Tsunoda was not immediately used to the dimensions of a huge monster truck, but everyone found an approach to this car.

Max Verstappen completed the obstacle course in 55.7 seconds. The Japanese pilot completed the mission in 58.37 seconds.

Then the riders fought one-on-one. During the race, Max Verstappen’s monster truck broke down and Yuki Tsunoda was able to take the lead.
