Longevity: 1916 truck catches fire after decades of inactivity (video)

Only the motorized chassis remained from the 1916 Federal truck—no cabin and no body. Still, his engine managed to revive.

A 1916 Federal Motor Truck was found in the USA. The car has been abandoned in a landfill for at least half a century. They talked about it in a video on Jennings Motor Sports Youtube channel.

So far, the history of the car has not been established. Federal and judging by the condition of his tires, he hasn’t driven in at least 50-60 years. The condition of the truck leaves much to be desired.

Only the motorized chassis remained from Federal – the cabin and truck body are missing. The car was covered with a layer of rust and only one tire remained.

But the 107-year-old Federal’s engine is well preserved. All four were cleaned, lubricated, new spark plugs installed and fueled. I had to work with a crooked starter lever (cars of those years did not have an electric starter), and as a result, the truck started.

Federal Motor Truck Company was founded in 1910 by Martin Palcher, who is also considered the father of the Pontiac brand. It produced trucks until 1960, and a significant part of them was supplied to the American army. Federal Motor Truck produced up to 3,500 vehicles with Continental, Hercules and Waukesha engines in its heyday.
