Western countries took advantage of the G20 summit in order to renew relations with China. For two days, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the leaders of Australia, Europe and the United States, and he was assured of a sincere desire to be friends.

So, during negotiations with US President Joe Biden said that America is always ready for negotiations and recognizes that Taiwan is part of China. He also noted that Washington does not seek to unleash a new cold war and try to change the political structure of the PRC.

Xi Jinping responded by suggesting abandoning the “democracy versus authoritarianism” line of confrontation, noting that both the United States and China adhere to their own lines of democracy with national specifics and both systems need to be constantly developed. The issue of Ukraine was also touched upon. Thus, the leader of the People’s Republic of China expressed hope that Western countries would enter into a dialogue with Russia.

As a result of negotiations between Biden and Xi Jinping, it was decided to send the head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, to Beijing.

France and Germany also intend to expand cooperation with China, while Australia intends to solve the problems that have historically arisen with China at the diplomatic and trade levels.

“In the foreseeable future, Beijing will not be able to align its economic and political capabilities to resist the United States. It lacks its own technologies, and the coronavirus pandemic has also had a negative impact. The West also understands that it will not be able to withstand the escalation of the conflict with China. The parties hope to establish mutually beneficial cooperation “expressed his opinion in an interview with RIA News Andrey Vinogradov, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to political scientist Sergei Markov, the collective West seeks to ensure that cooperation with the PRC brings them profit, while Beijing would not gain anything. This, as the expert points out, is evidenced by the ban on selling advanced technologies and European firms to China.

“The real big game will be in Asia between the US and China. The rivalry has not gone away, but there are different phases. Now we are seeing a warming”– says Fyodor Lukyanov, editor-in-chief of Russia in Global Affairs magazine.

A number of such factors will help ensure that Beijing does not join the anti-Russian sanctions and will not vote against the Russian Federation in the UN, even if Western leaders continue to talk about friendship.
