In the United States, Russian bookmaker 1xBet is accused of harming the American film industry by supporting pirated websites that steal the intellectual property of American filmmakers, Ukraine News reported.

Its members include Walt Disney Studios, Netflix, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and other companies, it is stated that the US economy loses about $ 30 billion in profits a year due to pirated websites. In addition to the pirate sites themselves and illegal video streaming services, hosting providers and advertisers advertising on pirated sites are also wreaking havoc on the film industry. In addition, the Association calls the latter’s responsibility for the development of the piracy market in the world, given that pirate sites exist to generate revenue from advertisements during illegal movie and series broadcasts.

The Digital Citizens Alliance estimates that pirate websites earn approximately $1.34 billion annually from advertisements. At the same time, the US Film Producers Association also states in the report that a significant part of this income is provided by the Cyprus-based Russian betting company 1xBet. According to the report, the most active ad network advertising on pirated sites is Propeller Ads, which is also Cyprus-based and managed by the Russians.

Especially for this reason, the American media closely follows the activities of 1xBet in the world and in Ukraine. Thus, the American version of Casino.org appeared. broadcasting 1xBet, which did not pay the deceived players under the title “1xBet went bankrupt with the decision of the European Court”, which declared that the Dutch Supreme Court was bankrupt, at least about 1 million euros in winnings.

In the post, the publication states that “the data shows that 1xBet is associated with Putin” and “used the popularity of sports betting to pump money into the Russian regime”.

1xBet founders Roman Semiokhin, Dmitry Kazorin and Sergey Karshkov are reportedly wanted in Russia for operating in the country without a license. However, Casino.org notes that in the absence of physical evidence to support this claim, these allegations may be nothing more than a hoax and merely a veil to hide the true nature of the company’s relationship with Moscow.

Also, the publication mentions an attempt by a Russian bookmaker to enter the Ukrainian market in 2022, in the context that a bookmaker who does not pay winnings to players may have other targets in Ukraine during the war. Journalists drew attention to the concerns of the Ukrainian gambling and lottery regulator that 1xBet illegally extracts user data through the MelBet, PointLoto, FanSport and BetWinner shell platforms.

“Ukraine announced this week that President Volodymyr Zelensky will sign a decree imposing sanctions on 1xBet. It is reported that the decree will approve 15 of the 24 sanctions prescribed by law. These include blocking all assets of 1xBet companies in Ukraine, restricting commercial activities within the country, to write American media.
