Russia is insured by sanctions against the banking crisis that has now unfolded in the United States, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, said on March 14. According to him, now banking problems in the US practically do not threaten Moscow.

“There is a blessing in disguise. Here, to a certain extent, we are insured against the crisis that is unfolding across the ocean,” – Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that the Russian banking system still has certain ties with certain segments of the international financial system. However, to a greater extent, it is under the illegal restrictions of the West.

Recall that on March 11, 2023, one of the most recognizable lenders in the technology startup industry, Silicon Valley Bank, went bankrupt in the United States. This was the largest bankruptcy since the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.

Following SVB, the commercial bank Signature Bank closed on March 13 due to financial problems and systemic risks. Against the background of these events, the United States found itself on the verge of a new economic collapse.

March 13 trading on the US stock market began with a collapse of the indices. Some experts believe that the bankruptcy of large financial institutions could lead to a banking crisis in the US. US President Joe Biden tried to reassure citizens, saying that nothing threatens the country’s banking system.
