“Extreme measures”: “Ukrenergo” admits the deficit in Ukraine’s energy system (video)

According to Vladimir Kudrytsky, in order not to leave Ukrainians without electricity in the summer, NPC Ukrenergo has several tools, one of which is “expensive”, but will be applied if necessary.

Ukraine has stopped exporting electricity to EU countries to meet the needs of Ukrainian cities. This was announced on the broadcast of the national telethon on May 25 by Volodymyr Kudrytsky, chairman of the board of directors of NPC Ukrenergo.

“In fact, we suspended exports because there was a certain shortage of resources in the energy system. I will say right away that this does not mean that we will disconnect consumers from the system. Ukrenergo has the means to prevent such extreme measures. Shutting down industrial or domestic consumers,” said Kudritsky.

According to him, the company has decided to temporarily limit electricity exports to Europe in order to guarantee sufficient electricity to Ukrainian consumers.

“Tomorrow we will see and forecast the situation for the weekend, we will create a balance and see if we can sustain these exports in some limited volumes next week. But for us, the domestic consumer will remain a priority in any case.” “There’s been stress.

The Chairman of the Board of NPC “Ukrenergo” said that he talked about possible power outages in the summer due to possible overload in the power grid.

“We are able to cover the load, including the additional load on the networks from the cooling systems operated by the Ukrainians. Then we will monitor the situation closely online. Besides restricting exports, we have several important tools at our disposal. The only way we can use to stabilize the energy system is to import electricity from Europe and supplement natural gas. volumes are included,” he said.

He pointed out that the second vehicle is “a rather expensive pleasure” but that Ukraine owns it and will be used as a last resort.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyy also urged Ukrainians to use electricity economically between 19:00 and 22:00 in the evening when the electricity grid is the busiest.

Electricity export from Ukraine to EU countries

On April 17, the Ukrenergo press service reported that Ukraine began to export electricity to Slovakia, while maintaining sufficient capacity for domestic consumers. It also continued to export electricity to Ukraine, Poland and Moldova.

On May 18, it was learned that Ukraine continued to import electricity from the European Union to fill the current gap due to repair works at most nuclear power plants. However, at the same time, exports to Moldova and Poland continue during the day and night when there is excess capacity in the energy system and consumption decreases.

On Wednesday, May 24, Ukrenergo announced that Ukraine had to stop exporting electricity to other countries because it had to meet its own consumption.
