Prime Minister, Ocean Plaza and oblenergos: Ukraine bought property worth billions of hryvnia from the Russians

State Investigation Bureau employees exposed dozens of companies affiliated with Russian owners

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, examining the materials of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), authorized the expropriation of the assets of several Russian businessmen near Moscow in exchange for billions of hryvnia. This was reported by the press service of the department.

The expropriation is known to affect five oblenergo, a hotel, a shopping mall, mining operations and bank shares. As a result, SBI experts allegedly exposed dozens of companies affiliated with Russian owners. So, for example, among the eventual beneficiaries of these business structures are businessmen who worked closely with Russian President Vladimir Putin: Arkady and Igor Rotenberg brothers, Oleg Deripaska, Evgeny Giner.

According to the information of the bureau, the property of Ukraine was transferred to:

  • PJSC “Rivnooblenergo” – 93.2%.
  • JSC “Khersonoblenergo” – 99.9%.
  • JSC “Chernivtsyoblenergo” – 96.8%.
  • JSC “Zhitoproizvodlenergo” – 95.5%.
  • PJSC “Kirovogradoblenergo” – 72.9%.

In addition, Ukraine currently has seven hotels (Premier chain), shopping and entertainment centers Metrograd and Metropolis. The total value of these assets is estimated at 2 billion UAH. According to the State Bureau of Investigation, Yevgeny Giner was the head of the assets before the expropriation.

In addition, Russian businessmen will partially or completely lose:

  • 88.89% of the shares of JSC “First Investment Bank” (owned by Evgeny Giner).
  • LLC “Glukhovsky Quartzite Quarry” and LLC “Nikolaev Alumina Plant” (owned by Oleg Deripaska, estimated cost is UAH 10 billion);
  • SEC “Ocean Plaza” (owned by the Rotenberg brothers) with an estimated cost of over US$350 million.

Also, attention is drawn to the nationalization of various shares of the authorized capital and property of the Russians in other important strategic sectors of the Ukrainian economy.

For example, the state will control 100% of the shares of Avangard-Vilarti LLC, in addition to Ocean Plaza Project (Cyprus) LTD, it also owns 66.65% of Ethoder Investments Limited and Lybid Investment Union.

“The State Bureau of Investigation continues to work systematically to improve the country’s defense capability and contributes to the return of the property of scavengers in Ukraine to state ownership,” law enforcement officials said.

Recall that in December 2022 it became known that the Pechersky District Court of Kiev arrested the Premier Palace Hotel, Premier Hotel Rus and other hotels in the capital and other cities of the country – objects belonging to the VS Energy group, according to inspectors. It was under the control of businessmen from the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov, Evgeny Giner and Mikhail Voevodin.

And a month ago, the SBU raided the Russian-linked energy company VS Energy.
