Energy Minister Galushchenko believes that the new electricity tariff is still preferential and that household consumers should pay twice as much for electricity.
The Ukrainian energy system is in need of the most extensive repairs in the history of independence to prepare the electricity generation and transmission system for the new heating season. Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that rising electricity tariffs will partially solve this problem.
“The case of raising prices was a difficult decision for us. We proceeded from the fact that the calculations showed that we would not be able to recover as much as possible until next winter,” he explained.
According to him, the new tariff is still preferential – for home consumers, electricity should cost at least twice as much.
Important
“The state subsidizes this tariff and will subsidize it through housing subsidy systems. At the same time, this is the minimum tariff necessary for us to keep the energy system and prepare it for next winter,” Galushchenko said.
The Minister of Energy also noted that there is no discussion in the government about a new revision of electricity prices.
What can be expected from the new heating season?
The situation in the energy system remains difficult, according to Sergei Nagornyak, a member of parliament’s committee on energy, housing and social services.
“According to the World Bank alone, the damage from missile attacks was more than 10 billion UAH. But this is not the final amount, because after a detailed examination, experts are discovering more and more damage to objects. In addition, the cost of equipment and work is constantly increasing,” Nagornyak said.
He advised Ukrainians to deal with backup options in case the Russian energy terror continues.
Beware of July 13 Focus I have already written that experts predict a difficult winter. Due to the massive damage caused by the intense rocket attacks of the invaders in Ukraine, experts will not be able to restore even half of the capacities before the start of the autumn-winter period.
