Economist Khazanov spoke about the reasons for the strengthening of the ruble

Economist Leonid Khazanov spoke about the reasons for the sharp fall and further strengthening of the ruble.

“Over a period of time since the beginning of the year, imports of various goods have increased. This put a lot of pressure on the ruble“, he reported.

In addition, there were currency speculators who decided to play on this. In connection with these factors, according to the expert, today, August 14, we saw how much the dollar rose.

Khazanov also expressed his opinion about the sharp strengthening of the ruble.

“First, currency speculators began to win back on the strengthening of the ruble. Secondly, I admit that the Central Bank of Russia itself has begun to take active steps, in particular, to buy rubles“, – said the economist.

He also recalled that tomorrow, August 15, a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia will be held, at which the issue of raising the key rate to 10.5% will be considered.

According to Leonid Khazanov, all this influenced the fact that the ruble began to strengthen. The expert is convinced that this is good, since the high exchange rate of the dollar and the euro is not very beneficial for us.

Recall that today, August 14, the dollar rose above 101 rubles for the first time since March 23 last year. Euro exceeded 110 rubles.
