A new type of media has appeared in Russia – leaked phone conversations of famous people. So far we are talking not about the richest people in Russia, but about “simple” billionaires. But who knows what will happen next.
During these conversations, its participants complain to each other about the situation with Russia’s current war against Ukraine, about the “bandits” who started this war, its negative consequences for their own business and for the future of Russia in general. This is a reflection of the mood of the Russian business elite, especially its representatives who, by chance, find themselves outside of Russia. Therefore, these conversations are not particularly surprising. Rather, they argue who unites them and for what.
The two most popular versions of such statements are: 1) competitors do it to blame their business competitors; 2) The FSB does this in order to “hook” and milk individual representatives of the Russian business community, and at the same time remind the entire Russian elite that everyone is at rest and everything is under control.
It doesn’t matter to us who leaked these conversations and why. The main thing is that their content fixes the mood, anxious expectations of the Russian elite.
