Poland “thriller” with Ukrainian grain: Polish Prime Minister threatens to strengthen embargo

Morawiecki, the head of the Polish government, reacted harshly to Ukrainian President Zelensky’s speech at the UN General Assembly.

Poland is threatening to expand the list of products prohibited from importing from Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki warned Kiev against “aggravation of the situation” regarding agricultural exports from Ukraine. This was reported by Polish publication Gazeta.

Morawiecki responded to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s speech at the UN General Assembly.

“We have launched a temporary maritime export corridor through our ports. We are working hard to protect onshore grain export routes. And it is worrying how some of our friends in Europe are playing up solidarity in political theater by making a grain thriller. Maybe this is worrying.” It seems that they are playing their roles, but in fact they are helping to prepare the ground for the Moscow actor,” Vladimir Zelensky said in New York on Tuesday (September 19).

In response, Morawiecki recalled the assistance the Poles had provided to Ukraine from the first days of the war. He emphasized that Poland could no longer be called an “indifferent state”.

“We still believe in the victory of Ukraine and we are helping. But the interests of the Poles must come first for us. And it will be so, no matter what anyone in the world says, because we do not bow to either the East or the West.” West, we act only in the interests of the Poles,” said the Prime Minister of the Polish government.

“I warn the Ukrainian authorities: If they escalate the conflict, we will add more products to the export ban to Poland,” Morawiecki said.

Let us remind you that in the environment of the grain crisis, Poland threatened to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU. In the trade war, Warsaw is supported by Slovakia and Hungary.

Poland also announced that it would not open the border to Ukrainian grain imports. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that the embargo aims to protect Polish farmers.

Unfortunately, on September 20, the Polish government hinted that they were looking to reduce support for Ukraine.
