Who will work after the war: The Council of Ministers announced the most in-demand professions

Business in Ukraine is flourishing even in war conditions, and employers offer jobs to unemployed citizens. Meanwhile, the government made a prediction about which professions would be most popular in post-war Ukraine.

The most popular professions in post-war Ukraine will be those related to the restoration of the country. The Council of Ministers therefore predicted that employers will have a serious need for workers as well as experts in the field of construction and telecommunications.

It was noted that in order to ensure a sufficient number of such specialists, the government included 500 million hryvnia in the 2024 draft budget for the transformation of vocational schools.

It is planned to create 100 centers especially for the practical training of Ukrainians. They will be provided with funds based on the results of open competitions. The centers will also be allowed to earn money on their own, which they can then spend on their own development, i.e. business activities.

As a result, Ukraine needs to recruit more than 50 thousand specialists in the most in-demand professions. In the workshops, both Ukrainian youth after the 9th and 11th grades, as well as the adult population, will be able to receive training. So, for example, the following will be able to enter education:

  • veterans;
  • internally displaced persons (IDPs);
  • Anyone who has the desire to learn a new profession.

“The most popular types of economic activity will be construction, telecommunications, etc. In addition, many builders, electricians, mechanics are currently defending Ukraine at the front. Meanwhile, unemployed Ukrainians do not face a complete lack of money. Thus, people can participate in the “Restoration Army” project, perform public service and receive 6.7 thousand hryvnias per month for their work. Often the unemployed do the following:

  • unloading, packaging and delivery of humanitarian aid;
  • provision of social services to citizens in places where displaced persons are concentrated;
  • weaving of camouflage nets;
  • Canned products for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces;
  • tailoring and repair of military equipment;
  • assistance in the care of injured military personnel in medical institutions;
  • debris analysis;
  • restoration of residential buildings and facilities;
  • cleaning of railway tracks and roads damaged by conflict;
  • organizing and strengthening checkpoints;
  • arrangement of basements for shelters;
  • construction of protective structures for civil protection;
  • strengthening of dams;
  • purchase of firewood for the needs of the army and the population.

It is known that the government will increase the cost of living to 2,920 hryvnia from January 1. The minimum wage will also increase to 7,100 hryvnia.
