The Ministry of Agriculture reported a decrease in prices for eggs, chicken and sugar. Currently, the dynamics of producer prices for food products is within traditional seasonal trends, the ministry reported.
Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture commented on the Rosstat data.
“For many types of socially significant products, selling prices are now declining after increasing in the pre-New Year period“, representatives of the department’s press service clarified in a conversation with “Izvestia“.
The price of chicken eggs has fallen for the fourth week in a row. Over the past week, it decreased by 0.2 and 0.4 percent for the first and second categories and amounted to 89.66 and 78.21 rubles, respectively. It is noted that such dynamics are reflected in consumer prices.
Manufacturer prices for chicken meat have been decreasing for eight weeks now, which also affects consumer costs. Thus, over the past week, selling prices for chicken lost 1 percent and amounted to 158.91 rubles per kilogram of chilled carcass.
As for sugar, over the week the retail price decreased by 0.17 percent. The Ministry of Agriculture noted that currently the cost of Russian sugar remains one of the lowest in the world.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade already talked about the dynamics of declining egg prices.
Let us recall that in the fall of 2023, the price of eggs in Russia increased significantly, after which a number of measures were taken to stabilize the situation. In particular, the Russian government signed the resolution on duty-free import of eggs from January 1 to June 30, 2024.
