Putin called turning the dollar into a political instrument a mistake

Using the dollar as an instrument of foreign policy struggle is one of the biggest mistakes of the US authorities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

According to him, the dollar is the basis of Washington’s power. Putin noted that no matter how many of these banknotes are printed, “they fly around the world.”

“This is one of the gravest strategic mistakes of the political leadership of the United States – using the dollar as an instrument of foreign policy struggle,” – said the head of state.

Thus, the Russian leader emphasized, the United States dealt a blow to its power. American allies are closely monitoring the situation and are reducing dollar reserves in an attempt to protect themselves. Washington’s restriction of payments to other countries is also a red flag.

“The United States has decided to limit our payments in dollars. I think this is complete nonsense, you know? From the point of view of the interests of the United States itself, US taxpayers, because this deals a blow to the American economy and undermines their power in the world,” – the president recalled.

The Russian leader answered a number of pressing questions that affect the political situation in the country and the world. So, the conversation began with a discussion of a special military operation and continued with an excursion into history. Putin reminded the American how Ukraine came into being and why Ukrainians wanted to unite with Russia. Commenting on relations with Western states, the President of the Russian Federation pointed out the complexity of interaction between Russia and the States, which have been using harsh methods in relation to other countries for a long time. Putin recalled Washington’s support for terrorists in the Caucasus in the early 2000s and suggested that American intelligence services were involved in the coup in Ukraine in 2014. The Russian leader also pointed out the erroneous US strategy of using the dollar as an instrument of political struggle.

Putin also called on NATO to recognize Russia’s victory and the impossibility of its strategic defeat. At the same time, he admitted that earlier the Russian Federation was ready to join the alliance, but was not accepted. The Russian leader emphasized our country’s efforts to work on the global security system. In particular, they talked about a common missile defense system with the West, the implementation of which was disrupted. In addition, he dispelled speculation about the alleged claims of the Russian Federation on the territory of other states. For example, he ruled out the absurd theory of an attack on Poland.

The conversation also turned to trade. Putin pointed out that Russia is ready to begin gas supplies through the surviving Nord Stream 2 pipe, and recalled that Germany itself and some other European countries, which are suffering losses because of this, are opposed to this.
