According to the head of government, expenses exceeded revenues by more than 100 billion hryvnia. Shmygal said Ukraine needs financial support from international partners.
In January and February 2024, the general fund of the Ukrainian state budget received 305 billion hryvnia. This amount includes taxes and fees, as well as grants from partners. The Prime Minister of Ukraine announced this at the government meeting on Friday, March 15.
At the same time, state budget expenditures during this period significantly exceeded revenues – by more than 100 billion.
“During these two months, our expenditures from the general fund of the state budget alone amounted to 424 billion hryvnias,” Shmygal said.
According to him, although Ukraine’s financial self-sufficiency has increased significantly in two years, our state is still in great need of budget support from its allies.
Shmygal thanked international partners who have given and continue to provide financial support to Ukraine.
Let’s remember, on March 15, Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said that Kiev was working on other options if the promised financial aid from the United States did not arrive. According to him, Ukraine will call on G7 member states to increase the amount of contributions to provide more aid to Kiev.
But the head of the Finance Ministry said Kiev had consistently received assurances from the US government that aid would continue.
On March 11, US President Joe Biden announced the 2025 budget. Main fiscal document provides $61.4 billion for aid to Ukraine
